Dragon and Tiger Pagodas are found at the south of the Spring and Autumn Pavilions. Each of them has 7 floors to symbolize the meaning of the seven-leveled stupa of Buddhism. As it is said that “going in from the dragon’s throat and out from the tiger’s mouth” will bring good luck, every tourist follows this route to eliminate bad luck.
Dragon and Tiger Pagodas look vivid and bright, and distinctive relief carvings are found inside. There are paintings of the 24 examples of the filial and the guilty judged by the 10 Kings of Hell inside the Dragon pagoda, and paintings of the 12 Virtuous Men and 36 Officers of the Jade Emperor of the Heaven inside the Tiger pagoda.
Thanks Hui Wen of USA.
